HOW TO GROW MORNING GLORY FROM SEEDS

Morning glory flower seeds can be started indoors a few weeks before your last frost date, but it's not necessary. They can be sown directly as well. If you prefer to plant seeds directly into the ground, you can do so once the soil has warmed to at least 16 degrees Celsius and can be worked. Scarification will accelerate the germination of morning glory seeds as the seeds are hard. The Seeds should be sown about a centimetre deep, a few inches apart. You don't have to be very particular about the spacing if you're planting a trellis. Soak the seeds well and water them well until they sprout.

CARE FOR MORNING GLORY AFTER GERMINATION

Morning glories are a favourite among gardeners everywhere for a good reason. They're very low-maintenance and attractive. Starting them from seed in early spring is easy, and you don't need to prune or deadhead them as they grow. Morning glories can start blooming with regular watering by mid-summer, but they can be slow to produce flowers. If you want your morning glory to grow well, it must be planted in a spot with plenty of sunlight. Only the flowers will open when they are facing the sun.

USES AND HEALTH BENEFITS OF MORNING GLORIES

It is one of a number of herbaceous twining vines or shrubs in the genus Ipomoea (family Convolvulaceae). The showy trumpet-shaped flowers and attractive leaves of morning glories make them famous for cultivation. In Asian and Mesoamerican countries, morning glory has been used as a laxative for centuries, and tea was sometimes made from its roots as a diuretic or expectorant. Herbal healers have also traditionally used tea brewed from dry leaves to treat headaches.
