HOW TO GROW WHITE ASTER TALL FROM SEEDS

Climates with cool, moist summers are best for asters. Aster plants should be placed where they will not be exposed to midday sun in warmer temperatures. Choose a sunny location. A loamy soil should be moist but well-drained. Before planting, mix compost into the soil. You can start seeds indoors during the winter by planting them in pots or flats and holding them in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 weeks to simulate winter dormancy. Germination is boosted during this period of cold weather. A sunny spot in your home is the best place to plant seeds an inch deep in the soil. Behind the risk of frost has passed in the spring, plant young plants outside.

CARE FOR WHITE ASTER TALL AFTER GERMINATION

During mid-to-late spring is the best time to plant young asters. You can plant fully-grown, potted asters as soon as they become available in your area, typically in the fall. Aster plants should be spaced 1 to 3 feet apart, depending on the type and size of the plant. Make sure to provide plants plenty of water when they are planted. Mulch the soil after planting to keep it cool and prevent weed growth. Asters are beautiful to pollinators, including bees and butterflies. If your plants are losing flowers, you should keep an eye out for stressed plants and attempt a different watering method. Stagger tall plants to prevent them from falling over.

USES AND HEALTH BENEFITS OF WHITE ASTER TALL

You can eat the blooms and leaves fresh or dried when eating aster plants. Aster root would be applied topically to relieve headaches by the Ojibwa. Aster flowers were also used for treating venereal diseases. The white color of asters symbolizes innocence. The red color of asters represents devotion. The pink color of asters symbolizes sensitivity and love. Asters and goldenrods attract many pollinating insects late in the season. The seeds and dried stalks provide food and shelter to many birds and small animals during the winter season.
