HOW TO GROW MALVA MELUCA SYLVESTRIS FROM SEEDS

Ideally, Malva Meluca Sylvestris seeds should be germinated at 18-25 degrees Celsius on alternate days in the house. Typically, the seeds take 5-10 days to grow. Sow up to two months before frost in spring or summer for outdoor cultivation. Plant the seeds indoors in February by burying them an inch deep in a soilless mix. Water and fertilize regularly to ensure maximum growth. Due to the extra boost in rich soils, stakes may be necessary. Ensure you water at the soil level and not on the foliage as too much moisture could lead to fungal diseases—transplant when there are at least two sets of true leaves.

CARE FOR MALVA MELUCA AFTER GERMINATION

Germination should be done under lights at a slightly cooler temperature, then hardening off and transplanting to a sunny spot in the garden. Mauve requires very little attention since it's a low-maintenance plant. A regular, moderate watering, particularly during the dry summer months, loosening the soil, weeding, and timely deadheading of spent flowers are necessary for mauve care. Malva plants do not need to be planted very deep in the ground when they are young. It would be best to plant seedlings deep enough to cover the roots, and the soil is loose enough for watering. Keep the ground moist until the roots have taken hold.

USES AND HEALTH BENEFITS OF MALVA MELUCA

The flower and leaf stand are used to make medicine. Effective treatment for mouth and throat irritation, dry cough, and bronchitis is Malva. In addition, Malva can relieve stomach problems and urinary problems. People use mallow to treat wounds by putting it in a warm, moist dressing (poultice) and using it straight to the skin or adding it to bathwater. Almost every part of the mallow plant is edible: the leaves, the stems, the flowers, the seeds, and the roots (its cousin Althaea gives the sap that makes marshmallows). Marshmallows contain a lot of mucilage, a sticky substance similar to okra that offers them a slimy texture.
