Asparagus Pacific Purple Seeds ( officinalis )
HOW TO GROW FROM SEEDS
Purple Pacific Asparagus can be grown easily from seeds. The seed goes pretty early in the spring. Soak the seeds in water for a day or two before so that it improves the chances that they will germinate. Sow Asparagus seed thinly 2 to 5cm deep in rows about 30cm apart. Regularly water them and keep the seedbed moist. After waiting a few weeks once the seedlings of Purple Asparagus are large enough, you can thin them to about 5cm apart.
CARE AFTER GERMINATION
Pacific Asparagus grows very well in full sun. Plant them on the west or north side of a garden so the tall plants won't shade in summer. Make space 30 to 50 cm apart. Almost all types of Asparagus need well-drained, nutrient-rich soil to grow perfectly. Purple Asparagus can take about 3 years to become productive. So you must be patient. One-year-old crowns will need two years of growth prior to harvesting. So It's pretty easy but it requires patience.
