Eggplant, or aubergine, can be grown very quickly from seeds. Seeds should be sown in October, November, or December, or late in January or February. In a 20°C environment, it germinates. In small pots or cell packs, plant seeds 1/4 inch deep. Place them on a refrigerator or heat mats in a warm spot, cover them loosely with plastic or a seedling bag to retain moisture. Ensure that the soil is moist. A plastic dome or bag should show condensation inside. Unless you do, you should mist the seeds lightly to prevent them from falling. Without additional heat, the seeds will sprout, but the process will take longer. Adding heat to the seeds will help them germinate faster.

Germination of Aubergine seeds generally takes a week or two. Place your pot or flat in a bright window or under lights once the seeds have germinated. Keep your eggplant seeds moist as they grow over the next eight to ten weeks. Plant 3-4 inch-high plants into 9-inch pots or three plants per grow bag under glass when they are 3-4 inches high. You can transplant outdoor plants to a sheltered spot in the sun. It is recommended that pH levels are from 6.5 to 6, and the N, P, K, and magnesium indices should range from 3 to 3.5. The next 80 days will bring its harvest. It's not difficult to grow some awesome-looking aubergines.

Support the plants with vertical strings or canes and horizontal ties or loops to prevent them from sprawling. Prune - There is no need to take more than one plant stem, as you can cut side shoots past the flowers that form. Plants with fewer than nine fruits per plant are generally considered to be successful, but in longer-term cultures, this number can be exceeded.
