Romanesco cauliflowers need fertile soil, perhaps improved with plenty of well-rotted manure or compost over the winter. Plant them in their final positions as soon as the seedlings are 10-15cm tall. Closer spacing results in smaller curds, so you decide how far or near to plant. As you plant each plant, dig a hole and ease the root ball out of the module, as little as possible disturbing the roots.
