HOW TO GERMINATE WHITE HOLLYHOCKS SEEDS

Hollyhock seeds need to be sown about 1/4 inch deep in the soil. Use a container with good drainage and at least 12 inches deep to grow the taproot. Hollyhocks prefer well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Use a mixture of potting soil, perlite, and compost for the best results. Water the soil lightly after sowing the seeds and keep the soil consistently moist until germination. Hollyhock seeds germinate at 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit (18 to 24°C). The seeds can take up to two weeks to grow.

CARE FOR WHITE HOLLYHOCKS PLANTS AFTER GERMINATION

Once the seedlings have grown a few inches tall, they can be transplanted into larger containers or directly into the garden. Space the plants 18-24 inches apart. Water deeply but infrequently to encourage profound root growth. Let the soil dry out slightly before watering again. Hollyhocks prefer full sun but can tolerate some shade. Fertilize the plants once a month with a balanced fertilizer. Hollyhocks thrive in well-draining soil with total sun exposure. Hollyhocks can be prone to rust and fungal diseases. To prevent these issues, avoid overhead watering and space plants apart to increase airflow. If you notice signs of illness, remove affected leaves and dispose of them immediately.

USES AND BENEFITS OF WHITE HOLLYHOCKS

The flowers and leaves contain compounds that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The plant is also used in skin care products due to its ability to soothe and hydrate the skin. The white hollyhock is also popular in ornamental gardening, adding a beautiful touch to cottage gardens and creating a lovely backdrop for other plants.
